“MUSIC FOR FUN” - Individual programme without the duty to take a final exam An individual syllabus without the duty to take a final exam is suitable for all those children and students who see playing their instrument as a way of relaxation among other activities. They can choose a genre focus (classical music, modern music, pop, jazz, etc.) and their own pace of instruction. The lessons are taught in an entertaining way, and the choice of the repertoire depends much on the pupil’s preferences. The programme includes listening and improvisation and students are encouraged to choose their own repertoire. Although recommended, the children are not expected to work outside the lessons in a systematic way; nevertheless their active participation during lessons is mandatory. The students who are involved in this form of study have the opportunity to perform at our School’s Family Concerts, the opportunity to play together with classical or jazz ensembles, and the opportunity to become active participants in all School events. The lesson plan is settled by the teacher and the pupil together.
ISMFA - CLASSICAL MUSIC CURRICULUM This programme with the duty to take a final exam is suitable for all those students who do not want to follow the repertoire requirements of international (or Czech) curricula, but, at the same time, they want to achieve a specific level in their field. The syllabus is designed at the beginning of each school year (or at the beginning of instruction in a different month) by the teacher in agreement with the pupil. It is then endorsed by the School management. The syllabus of the lessons includes technical exercises (scales, chords), etudes and compositions from various stylistic periods. The children are expected to work outside the lessons in a systematic way. All students are motivated to perform at Family Concerts, Open Public Concerts and festivals. They have the opportunity to be involved in chamber music or to perform together with professional music ensembles. At the end of each school year, after passing the final exam, the students receive Certificates guaranteed by the ISMFA.
ABRSM PROGRAMME The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music is an international study programme which is concluded by internationally acknowledged exams. Most international primary and secondary schools require this Certificate from those students who would like to join their school orchestras. The ABRSM system is common in most European countries.
